The Bay of Kotor is the
natural and cultural treasury of the world. More than

called Orahovac, near Kotor and Perast, it was named by
amphorae, a type of clay vase
being used as the principal means for transporting and
storing oil, wine, grain and other commodities during
the 1st and 2nd century B.C..
Handmade in Italy and Greece, and later on in Dalmatia,
they used to be and still are a symbol of safe deposit
box for valuables. Found at the bottom of the sea by
fishermen and divers, they can provide invaluable
information on habits and life of the ancient peoples.
While amphorae are kept in museums, private
collections or at the bottom of the sea, the Hotel
